What happens to the books when a library closed? Well, if it’s a small library, it probably just went to another library to be used there. There are many libraries that share books with other libraries. Also, those books will be used again. If the library is big, the books will be sold to raise money for the library. I think this is a good idea because the books will be used by someone else, and it will raise money for something important, like a new library. I have found books that I really like at library sales.
I don’t think I would have found those books anywhere else. I think the best thing that could happen to a library is to close and the books go to another library. I hope that never happens to my library!
I’ve been thinking about the books from the closed libraries. Usually there is a library sale and the books are donated to a local library. But this seems like a waste. Don’t libraries already have enough books? It’s true that the book sale is a chance for people to get books they may not have been able to get otherwise, but I can only imagine how many books are tossed into a corner in each library.
I can only imagine the stacks of books that are there already that no one ever looks at. Then there is the process of donating the books to another library. The books have to be sorted, boxed, and sent to another location. I can only imagine the cost of that and the impact it has on the environment. I’ve seen a few libraries that “sell” the books online and I’ve even seen libraries that will have a book sale online to sell books to people all over the country.
I think that is a great idea. But what if they didn’t do that? What if a library that closed kept the books? I know that a lot of the books are older and probably not worth anything, but I’m sure there are some that are. I’ve heard of libraries that have tried that and I think it’s a great idea.
I’m sure there are a lot of people who would be willing to pay for the books and I’m sure there are a lot of people who would love to get their hands on some of the books from a closed library. I’ve even thought about going to a library that is closing and buying the books. I like the idea of keeping the books. The books are a part of history. I think keeping them would be a wonderful way to remember the libraries that have closed.
